Job Summary

We are embarking on a journey to improve our department and effect change for all our customers.

You will be part of a small, dedicated Construction Team contributing to the improvement and development of the NHSBT Estate, delivering quality solutions providing a safe working environment for colleagues.

Your work will enable NHSBT to grow and develop the Services they offer by providing suitable facilities to attain strategic objectives.

You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external on individual projects using your influencing skills to achieve the desired results.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be responsible for managing the National delivery of identified building projects to deliver Stakeholder satisfaction to time, cost and quality standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the investigation and development of Estates Solutions to support Strategic Objectives
  • Delivering Service excellence by developing and managing specific projects to the highest professional standards, complying with all relevant internal and external standards, regulations, and instructions.
  • Liaising and communicating project progress and issues with all project stakeholders from Executive Directors to Contractors, guiding and assisting with securing contractual agreements.
  • Developing designs, specifications and managing projects through to commissioning and completion within agreed financial budgets.
  • Producing detailed drawings, specifications, tender documents, and complete contract documentation together with NHSBT tendering templates.
  • Being a subject matter offer and professional construction or building advice to stakeholders.


About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Project Office, Word, Excel and Visio.
  • Extensive proven project management experience of large-scale projects through the complete project life cycle.
  • Extensive proven programme management experience of several concurrent disparate projects.
  • Proven resource management and allocation experience, including those not under direct line management control.
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint) and Visio.
  • Proven experience of conducting post implementation reviews and preparing Project Closure Reports.
  • Experience of working under a regulatory framework such as Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • Significant experience of leading and managing within a strongly customer orientated environment.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and consultant appointments.
  • Knowledge and experience of setting and monitoring financial budgets and of negotiating construction contracts.
  • Knowledge of EC procurement regulations, building fabric and building services.


Qualifications and Training

  • Masters in a relevant subject such as Buildings Management, Construction or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) or similar construction professional body.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).

  • A starting salary of  £62,215 - £72,293 per annum in accordance with AfC.
