Job Summary

As a Warehouse Operative at NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), you’ll help keep vital supplies moving safely and accurately through our warehouse operations. Your work ensures blood and transplant services reach the people who need them, when they need them.
You’ll be hands‑on every day, receiving, storing, picking and dispatching stock while following clear quality, safety and traceability standards. You’ll use warehouse equipment and computerised systems, work closely with colleagues across logistics and transport, and take pride in doing things right first time. This is a practical, essential role where your contribution really matters – because there’s no flow without you.
This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week over a Monday to Friday, shifts will be 07:30am – 15:30pm daily.
Main Duties of the Job
- Receive, check and store stock safely, following location and traceability requirements
- Accurately pick, pack and dispatch orders to agreed standards and timescales
- Load and unload vehicles using manual handling techniques and forklift equipment
- Complete warehouse documentation accurately, both paper‑based and computerised
- Monitor temperature‑controlled storage and report any issues promptly
- Maintain batch traceability in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Work with colleagues, transport teams and suppliers to keep operations running smoothly
- Follow health and safety, PPE and hazardous substance procedures at all times
- Keep work areas clean, organised and free from obstruction
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous warehouse experience, including accurate order picking
- Experience of manual handling and safe stock movement
- Confident using computer systems and completing work records
- Able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision
- A reliable team player with a flexible, adaptable approach
Essential Qualifications
- Fork Lift Truck (FLT) licence
- Formal manual handling training
- Educated to GCSE level or vocational equivalent
