Job Description
We are looking for a highly experienced construction programme manager whose expertise will help drive and enable improvements to the development of the NHSBT Estate. Your ability to effect change for all our customers and deliver quality solutions to provide a safe working environment for colleagues is critical to this role.
You will be reporting directly to the National Construction Programme Manager as well as being part of a small, dedicated Construction team. Being able to navigate and manage a complex organisation is essential, as well as working closely with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external on specific projects.

The role can be based in any of our South East London centres such as Tooting or Colindale.
In this role you will be responsible for managing the delivery of identified building projects to deliver Stakeholder satisfaction to time, cost and quality standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- The day-to-day management of various construction projects across the county, from infrastructure upgrades to new donation suites.
- Delivering Service excellence by developing and managing specific projects to the highest professional standards, complying with all relevant internal and external standards, regulations, and instructions.
- Liaising and communicating project progress and issues with all project stakeholders and Contractors, guiding, and assisting with securing contractual agreements.
- Developing designs, specifications and managing projects through to commissioning and completion within agreed financial budgets.
- Producing detailed drawings, specifications, tender documents, and complete contract documentation together with NHSBT tendering templates.
- Being a subject matter expert and professional construction or building advice to stakeholders.
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.
Experience and Knowledge
- Extensive proven project management experience through the complete project life cycle.
- Extensive proven programme management, experience of several concurrent disparate projects.
- Proven resource management and allocation experience, including those not under direct line management control.
- Proven experience of conducting post implementation reviews and preparing Project Closure Reports.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft packages including Project Office, Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Knowledge and experience of setting and monitoring financial budgets.
- Knowledge of construction contracts and consultant appointments.
- Extensive building fabric and building services knowledge.
- Experience of negotiating construction contracts.
- Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint).
Qualifications and Training
- Educated to master’s degree Level or Equivalent or demonstrable experience and knowledge in construction.
- RICS/CIOB/RIBA professional registration required full Chartered membership (which must be maintained in the role).
- Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
