Job Description

Job Summary

We’re looking for someone to lead a team of Donor Carers and Donor Care Supervisors. Your job will be to keep the team motivated, trained, and ready to give excellent care. We rely on a positive and motivated team to deliver excellent customer service, so our donors come back time and time again. That’s where you come in—you’ll be their role model, supporting and developing them to reach their full potential. Your job will be to keep the team happy, confident, and trained, all while making sure they provide the best possible care. You’ll also help create a great working environment, offer guidance and training, and step in when any issues come up.

The relationship and trust we build with our donors is important—we have to make sure every donation is safe for the donor and safe to transfuse. You’ll use your clinical judgement to decide if someone’s able to donate, based on their health and medical history. Even if someone can’t donate, it’s just as important that they feel valued and encouraged to come back again. You’ll lead by example, using different leadership styles to bring out the best in your team. We care about our donors and the quality of what we do, and that means you’ll play a big role in helping your team deliver a safe, smooth, and positive donation experience every time.

Main duties of the job

This role is all about leading with care, keeping things safe, and making sure every donor has a great experience. Here’s what you can expect day to day:

  • You’ll be the go-to person on session, making sure everything runs smoothly and is safe for our donors. You’ll decide if someone is fit to donate, making sure it’s safe for them, and safe for the person receiving the donation.
  • You’ll make sure donors have a great experience from start to finish.
  • You’ll help your team stay sharp by keeping everyone’s skills (including yours!) up to date.
  • You might have some tough conversations now and then, but you’ll handle them with care, confidence and professionalism.
  • You’ll keep learning and growing, helping us get better at what we do everyday.

Your working hours will be:

This is a shift-based role. You’ll usually work 8 days per fortnight. Shift times vary according to which venue the session is being held at, but usually the early shifts start at 0830hrs and finish 1730hrs and the late shifts start at 1130hrs and finish at 2100hrs. Paid shifts will be about 9.375 hour’s long.

You’ll need to work some weekends and bank holidays. While the days can be long, you won’t work more than four days a week.
